This is not your average family photo shoot at the local beach or county park. Scott and his team will take you to unique and often untouched locations. While you are safely guided on these adventures, Scott’s decades of experience on professional Hollywood sets will capture your best, most ageless angle. The images will make treasures that will be passed from generation to generation of your family.

Summit to Sea
FULL DAY, 2 LOCATIONS
This is a more extensive inland climbing experience at a crag in Pacific Palisades or Malibu, followed by a move to a nearby beach for sunset photos. This full-day experience gives you more time to get comfortable with climbing outdoors at a climbing crag, and a more diverse selection of images to choose from. If climbing isn’t your thing, we can do a hike instead.

Once we are at the beach, we’ll watch for dolphins, seals, and maybe even whales, and enjoy a picnic as the sun sets.
Switchback Pictures will provide an experienced climber assistant, a picnic, umbrella, beach blanket and chairs, beach toys, binoculars, wash kit and first aid kit.
What to bring: comfortable athletic clothing, sunblock, hat, water bottle, light jacket.

High Desert 4x4 Jeep Adventure
FULL OR HALF DAY
This unique experience in the vast Mojave desert departs Switchback Pictures’ base camp about 90-120 minutes outside Los Angeles. We will do some light to moderate hiking while spotting hawks, eagles, lizards, and quail.
Choose two of the following activities during the half-day tour, or three for the full-day tour:

Alpine Lake Paddle or Boat Day
HALF DAY
We love adventuring to a special lake nestled in the San Bernardino Mountains where we will kayak, canoe, paddle board, or take a perfectly relaxing cruise on an electric boat. This alpine lake is ringed by a gentle walking path under fragrant pines. You’ll be treated to a special picnic on this half-day adventure. This adventure is a great option if you have really young kids or seniors in your group.
We’ll time the trip so you have time to drive back down the mountain before dark.

What you bring: sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate comfortable clothing for hiking, a hat, water bottle. If you are paddling, bring a bathing suit and towel. We will procure all watercraft and life vests.

Rock Climbing on Sea Cliffs
HALF DAY
This half-day adventure starts with an introduction to rock climbing on a seaside cliff about 30 minutes from Santa Monica in the mid-afternoon. No experience necessary.
Our belay assistant will be fully focused on your safety so you can enjoy climbing while taking in incredible views of the Pacific Ocean. We’ll watch for dolphins, seals, and maybe even whales, and enjoy a picnic as the sun sets.
Switchback Pictures will provide an experienced climber assistant; climbing gear, ropes, and shoes; a picnic; a beach umbrella, blanket, chairs, toys, and binoculars; and a wash kit and first aid kit.

Kern River Weekend Adventure
2 DAYS, 1 NIGHT
Nestled in the Southern Sierra Nevada, the Kern River Valley is one of our favorite locations for spring, summer, and fall adventures. Are you a camper? A cabin-eer? A rock climber, hiker, whitewater rafter? We will curate a weekend trip to suit your family’s ages, interests, and abilities. From the classic tourist highlights to the secret knolls and granite monuments, you'll get to visit all the spots of this special river valley. All your friends will want to know where your photos were taken!
This is an incredible experience for the urban family who craves the scent of pine and the sound of laughter around a bonfire… and needs a little help making it happen. Of course, you’ll return to the city with an amazing collection of professionally captured images.

Skiing the San Bernadino Mountains
HALF DAY
Fresh snow, crisp air, the scent of pines, laughter, and lots of fun. Join us on an adventurous day of skiing or snowboarding on a local mountain.
As a production crew member for 12 years in the Rocky Mountains and a former World Cup skier, I will guide you on a half day trip with the best of both worlds: optional skiing instruction combined with photographs of your most handsome angle in the snow. Our lunch spot offers incredible vistas where we can warm our toes and enjoy hot cocoa or cocktails. This is also a great spot for extra group shots and portraits for those who prefer the cozy ski chalet to the snowy slopes.

What to bring: this depends on whether you are renting ski gear, or bringing your own. We will work with you to plan all of the arrangements.
